Research Projects: Leapfrog Group Hospital Quality and Safety Survey

Purpose of Project:

CHSRA provides development and management of The Leapfrog Group Hospital Quality and Safety Survey. This includes measure development, analysis and dissemination efforts. The Leapfrog Group is a non-profit organization founded in November 2000 by the Business Roundtable and is supported by its members-major corporations and public agencies that purchase health care benefits. The Leapfrog Group Hospital Survey is completed by more than 1300 hospitals across the United States. The survey results are disseminated to consumers, employers and healthcare providers via a free public website. In addition, CHSRA assists health services researchers use the underlying data for assessment of the safety of patients.

In addition, to the survey, CHSRA provides expert participation on behalf of purchasers and consumers at the measure development and endorsement organizations, including the Joint Commission/World Health Organization Collaborating Centre on Patient Safety, the Ambulatory Quality Alliance, the Hospital Quality Alliance, the Champions for Patient Safety, the National Quality Forum, Measure Steering Committees, and the Consensus Standards Development Committee. In addition, the Leapfrog Group works closely with CMS to align measurement and pay for performance programs.
