The Center for Health Systems Research and Analysis (CHSRA) was formed in 1973 as a collaborative effort between the departments of Industrial Engineering and Preventive Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. At CHSRA, researchers seek to improve long-term care and health systems by creating performance measures and developing information and decision support systems. CHSRA research and development projects serve a variety of audiences, including:

  • Long-term care and health care providers
  • Consumers
  • Policy makers
  • Resident and patient advocates
  • Regulatory agencies

Wisconsin Clinical Resource Center The WCRC project is available to all members of Wisconsin Health Care Association (WHCA) and Wisconsin Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (WAHSA). CHSRA has designed the WCRC website and training materials for use by staff in Wisconsin nursing homes. The website provides key information and resources about 8 selected care areas, online trainings, and free access to AMDA clinical guidelines. Members can logon to WCRC here.

Electronic Provider Initiative Project The Electronic Provider Initiative Project (ePIP) enables long term care facilities to submit Minimum Data Set (MDS) data, run Quality Indicator/Quality Measure (QI/QM) reports, and access quality information via a secure internet website. ePIP was discontinued on October 1, 2010 due to the release of MDS 3.0.

 

Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System
The Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System (CODES) is a collaborative approach to obtain medical and financial outcome information related to motor vehicle crashes for highway safety and injury control decision making.

Personal Experience Outcomes Integrated Interview and Evaluation System Personal Experience Outcomes Integrated Interview and Evaluation System (PEONIES), is funded by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services. The purpose of this project is to develop a way of measuring and using Personal Experience Outcomes for people receiving long-term care services in the community.
