Hospital E-Code Reports 2000These reports are designed to provide interested parties
with a basic overview of injuries occurring to persons aged 0 to 19 in their

The information on the attached pages comes from Hospital discharge data collected by the Bureau of Information within the Department of Health and Family Services. These data have information related to injury severity added to them (obtained using ICDMAP-90 software, which is based on injury severity scores developed by the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine in the 1960s). Additionally, E-Codes have been categorized utilizing a scheme developed by the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, and published in Morbidity and Mortality Weekly in 1997 (for the NCIPC Report, go to: ftp://ftp.cdc.gov/pub/Publications/mmwr/rr/rr4614.pdf ). For detailed information on the categorization of cause of
injury, please see this report (Adobe Acrobat is required to read it). How to Interpret the Data: q
Cases are hospital discharges with an E-Code (External
Injury Code) reported only. They do
not include persons who died prior to being admitted to the hospital, nor do
they apply to persons seen in an emergency room but not admitted to the
hospital. q
Hospital charges are for the inpatient stay only.
They do not include fees for anesthesiologists, operations, follow-up
visits, physical therapy, etc. |
