Special Cost and Injury Analyses

This section provides results from cost and injury analyses the Wisconsin CODES project has performed on major traffic safety issues. In particular, we have performed analyses for:

bullet
The impact that wearing and not wearing a helmet has on the likelihood of traumatic brain injury and resultant costs and mortality
bullet
Costs and injuries associated with crashes for which police indicate that alcohol was a factor
bullet
Costs and injuries associated with not wearing a seat belt

These analyses utilize multivariate statistical techniques, but the results are written in such a way that even people not familiar with these statistical techniques can understand them.
