What's New?

Sara Karon will be presenting at the 2nd Annual Self Determination Conference in Milwaukee on October 13, 2009 from 10:30am-noon.

Improving Identification of Personal Experience Outcomes

Personal Experience Outcomes are a new idea for many people, consumers as well as care managers and quality reviewers. The PEONIES approach emphasizes that outcomes must be defined by the individual. The different ways that people think and talk about what they want can make it hard to identify outcomes.

This short training video has been developed to help people improve their ability to recognize Personal Experience Outcomes. The video addresses four types of statements that often are mistaken for Personal Experience Outcomes, and provides strategies for conducting an interview that results in clear identification of a consumer’s desired personal experience outcomes.

Please note that this training assumes that you already have some understanding of Personal Experience Outcomes. If this is not the case, we recommend that you read this brief Introduction to Personal Experience Outcomes and the PEONIES Project. You also may view the Understanding Personal Experience Outcomes webcast for a more detailed discussion of the 12 personal experience outcome areas.

Please click the Start button below to begin viewing the video, "Improving Identification of Personal Experience Outcomes". You will be asked to answer a few short demographic and pre-test questions. You must answer these in order to view the video. We ask that you also complete a few post-test questions and evaluation after the video, to help us learn how to improve future trainings. After you have completed the questions, you will be shown the correct answers. The entire process -- answering questions and viewing the video -- should take about 20 minutes. Flash Player 8 (or above) is required to view the video.
